BUDAPESTI WAGNER-NAPOK // Bo Skovhus dalestje

A világhírű dán baritont alighanem akkor zárta végérvényesen szívébe a Müpa közönsége, amikor A nürnbergi mesterdalnokok 2013-as produkciójában egy fájdalmas térdprobléma miatt mankóval volt kénytelen járni a színpadon, de ezt a kényszerűen vállalt mozzanatot is képes volt beépíteni felejthetetlen alakításába. Most más oldaláról ismerhetjük meg: a Budapesti Wagner-napok műsorába immár régóta szervesen beletartozó dalest előadójaként Wagner, Schönberg, Richard Strauss és Mahler kompozícióiból összeállított műsort szólaltat meg.

Az est műsorán Wagner híres Wesendonck-dalain kívül olyan szerzők műveit hallhatjuk, akikre nagy hatást gyakoroltak Wagner zenedrámái, sőt, talán kimondhatjuk azt is, hogy Wagner nélkül valószínűleg más irányt vett volna harmóniaviláguk, formakezelésük. Mahler, Strauss és a fiatal Schönberg is grandiózus művekkel gazdagította a szimfonikus irodalmat, ugyanakkor megmutatták azt is, hogy micsoda kifejezőerő rejlik egy olyan intim zsánerben, mint amilyen a dal. Az operaműfajban rendkívül sokoldalú, színészként is rendkívüli tehetségű Bo Skovhus nemcsak nagyszerű Don Giovanni, Wozzeck, Anyegin vagy Gróf a Figaróban, de a dalirodalom területén is otthonos: nagy sikerrel énekli Schubert, Schumann, Hugo Wolf és mások műveit. Partnere, a karmesterként is megbecsült osztrák zongoraművész, Stefan Vladar szólistaként és kamaramuzsikusként egyaránt a nemzetközi élvonal képviselője, akivel legutóbb 2020 szeptemberében találkozhatott a Müpa közönsége, amikor Rácz Ödön és a Liszt Ferenc Kamarazenekar koncertjét vezényelte. Közös dalestjük emlékezetes élményt ígér.

The world-famous Danish baritone Bo Skovhus probably secured his place in the hearts of the Müpa Budapest audience forever when, in a 2013 production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, he was forced to take the stage while suffering from a painful knee problem, yet still managed to incorporate his resulting compromised ability to walk into his unforgettable portrayal. Now we can get to know another side of this artist who has long been an integral element of the Budapest Wagner Days series: as a performer of art songs, presenting a compilation of lieder by Wagner, Schönberg, Richard Strauss and Mahler.

The evening’s programme features, in addition to Wagner’s famous Wesendonck Lieder, works by composers who were greatly influenced by Wagner’s music dramas, and whose harmonic worlds and formal structures, without Wagner, would probably have taken a different direction. Mahler, Strauss and, in his younger years, Schönberg all enriched the symphonic literature with grandiose works, but at the same time they also demonstrated the expressive power inherent in a genre as intimate as the art song.
Extremely versatile as an opera singer and extraordinarily talented as an actor, Skovhus not only makes for a wonderful Don Giovanni, Wozzeck, Onegin or Count Almaviva in Figaro, he is also at home in the art song literature, singing Schubert, Schumann, Hugo Wolf and others with great success. Partnering with him will be the Austrian pianist Stefan Vladar. A leading soloist and chamber musician on the international scene in addition to a highly esteemed conductor, he last visited the Müpa Budapest audience in September 2020, when he conducted a concert by Ödön Rácz and the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra. Their joint recital of lieder promises to be a memorable experience.
